And in all my earnest preparation and other busy things, I neglected updating my blogs! Shame on me!

I'm here in San Francisco, though, staying in a really cool hostel. Would definitely recommend it to friends.

I'm just working on getting everything ready for tomorrow! I've got three mini prints (4"x6", the farting girl, superhero girl, and the farting unicorn [which I forgot to post the final version of! I'll have to do that when I get home... he is my favorite]) and a mini poster (about 12"x10.5" of the Devil Girl drawing from the Pissed Off Pinups title bar). Plus I have a portfolio of sketches for people to look through, and some fun little business cards that have my info at the bottom and a blank thought bubble at the top that I can draw different little things in... so every card will be different).

It should be a really fun time!

So if you're in San Francisco, head down to the Concourse (620 7th Street) this weekend and check it out! It's only 10 bucks for one day and 15 for both. And there's a lot of other cool people going, like Rachel and Mikey of Poseur Ink, Meredith Gran of Octopus Pie, and Jennie Breeden of The Devil's Panties, among others. Yay!

A whole month without an update?!

I've been busy again! APE is fast approaching, and I'm drawing up a storm to make sure I have a bunch of stuff for the table. I posted a few things over at the Pissed Off Pinups blog, but I'm also going to have some non-pinup things as well... This sketch of a unicorn farting will become a full drawing and a print shortly. The fart cloud will be all rainbow colors and sparkles and things.
And here's a couple of doodles I did a while back. The guy on the left may or may not be Jim (John Krasinski) from The Office... I thought it kinda looked like him though.It looks like 24 hour comic book day (check out the website here) is on the 18th this year, and I'm going to participate. If I do in fact come up with a finished product, I'll make some ashcan copies of that to sell at APE as well!

I think this one's my favorite... she's got the most life to me out of this bunch. I think she's probably going to be a character in that future project. I think her name is Penny, and she runs a small thrift store/curiosity shop.
Not sure what her name is... but she thinks she's the bees knees among the local music scene.

I took a little bit of a break this weekend to chill out after Comic Con and being sick pretty much all last week (this nasty cold is almost gone...yay). I do have a couple of drawings to post, but I want to take some time and color them. So they'll go up tomorrow night.

Rodents, rodents, rodents...

I love drawing animals. That was one of my favorite things about drawing caricatures at the zoo... I got a LOT of practice drawing animals. I seem to really love rodents and reptiles the best for some reason... so today I ended up with a rat and the cutest armadillo I've ever drawn... I don't think they really run that fast, but I like the feeling of the drawing.One of these days I'd LOVE to do a children's book with a bunch of animals in it... but that's on the back burner while I work on the pinup stuff for now.

I've been reading a book set in the 1890s.

So I ended up drawing this guy:Yeah, if I ever decide to hand letter anything, I'm going to need a lot of practice.

For the curious, I'm in the middle of Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. It's really well-written creative non-fiction about the Chicago World's Fair and some mysterious murders that happened around that time. I highly recommend it.

This guy kind of reminds me of some of John Allison's drawings in Scary Go Round.
I just wanted an excuse to draw large glasses from 25/30 years ago. So I drew this pair:

I've once again let other life stuff get in the way of pursuing my artistic goals... What's up with me not updating since December, anyway?

I'm going to be at the Alternative Press Expo, come hell or high water. And I'm planning on having a Pissed Off Pinups 2009 Calendar with me.

I've already got a few sketches done, but will have to wait until after the Convention is over to post them. It's been pretty exhausting so far... there are just SO MANY people this year! But I've gotten to see a lot of old friends, make some new ones, and meet a couple of people I've admired for a long time... all of which are evidence of a good Con.

I miss drawing comics. A lot. Or maybe it's just that I miss having some sort of direction when I draw, or having a project to work on. Anywho, I drew these folks today as character ideas. I started with that design of myself from those previous sketches and drew some other people around that idea/style. I kind of like it. I may do something with them later.

I forgot that I figures out how to send pictures from my cellphone to my email. YAY. These are some sketches I did at work last week. MAN I could have done so much better. I'm definitely going to try drawing the couple again for fun because I have better pictures in my head of what I'd want to do. And the old lady was a hoot. She got this as a gift for her son for his birthday.

I heart this drawing. I joked with Aeire that I should make it into a children's book about manners, and she gave me a title: Susie Share and the Rather Rude Bear.

The next two drawings were from photos I found on punchstock.com, a stock photo website I like to use for reference sometimes. I wish I'd bookmarked the photos. I used a litho crayon for both of them. I like the waxy texture.

These are from my current sketchbook, which is about five pages from full.

I really like how the chick with the iPod turned out.

Anne and Dejon were drawing little girls with rats tied in their hair, and I don;t know why. They told me I should draw one too.

This is my response to discovering the animated series "The Batman", which has to be the lamest name for a show ever. I mean, he's not THE Batman. He's just BATMAN. Also, I really hate the character designs. They bug me on a structural level.

I wish I could get away with wearing stuff like that. I'm just not cool enough.

Apparently, this chick does not seem to fine ninja pigs very exciting.

These were redesigns of some characters of mine that I never did anything with. The one on the left kind of ended up looking like me. So I did a few drawings of myself using a similar design.

I drew myself as the statue of liberty for some reason.

And then as a pissed off ballerina fairy princess. I kind of want to work a cleaned up version of this into my website design, once I get my portfolio site up.

I don't know who that guy is, but MAN I can be a bitch sometimes.

I'm not quite as happy with this one as I could be. I like it, but I want to redraw it and make it better.

This drawing and the next are my favorites from this sketchbook. Her left leg is a little too long, though. But I'll fix that if I ever do a cleaned up version.

I love her. *heart* Might want to tweak the face a bit if I redraw it, though.

Piercings are fun to draw. Also, I wish this was a caricature and not some made up person.

So here I am, finally using this blogger account for something. Yay. I'm posting two sketch dumps from my last sketchbook. And in a few days I'll post some stuff from my current sketchbook, and maybe any odd drawings I have laying about. Anywho. Sketches. Yes.

I did this drawing when I was at Lestat's sketching with a few friends from work. Anne was drawing a really unsexy cartoon of herself trying to be sexy, so I thought I'd try the same. Gotta love them sexy freckles on the top of my calves from wearing shorts at work all summer! MMHMM!!

This is Aaron, a guy I work with. Dejon was drawing him for a life drawing class assignment, so I thought I'd draw him too.

Uh, this is Marie Antoinette. From the recent past's view of the future. Right. And a girl that may or may not be me smirking at her.

I'm not exactly sure what possessed me to draw this, but it made me giggle.
